Tropicana Partners with GEMS Education to Build Campus in Tropicana Metropark

- Tropicana to Build 5-acre International School Campus, to be Operated by GEMS Education
- World-Class Primary and Secondary Education Right at the Doorstep for over 1,200 Homes in Tropicana Metropark
- Project to be Completed by 2017 and First Intake by September of the Same Year
 
Petaling Jaya  – Tropicana Corporation Berhad (“Tropicana” or the “Group”) has  ntered into an agreement with renowned global educational group GEMS Education to develop a school campus in the 88-acre integrated development Tropicana Metropark in Subang Jaya, Selangor, which will house an integrated international school offering foundation to primary and secondary stages of learning.
 
Under the agreement, Tropicana undertakes to build an international school campus complete with world-class facilities on a 5-acre plot of land with a built-up area of approximately 210,000 sq ft within the Tropicana Metropark development. The school will be operated by GEMS Education upon completion in 2017, with the first intake expected in September. The school will be able to accommodate up to 2,400 local and international students aged 3 to 18. 
 
The school will prepare students for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSEs), AS and A Level examinations of the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). It will offer a hybrid international and Malaysian curriculum including Bahasa Melayu, Islamic/Moral Studies, History, Art and Design, Music and Drama in a Malaysian context to strengthen roots in Malaysian values, culture and development.
 
The Tropicana and GEMS Education cooperation is expected to see the creation of a world-class international school competitive with some of the world’s best schools.
GEMS Education focuses on advancing education for primary and secondary students hailing from over 150 nationalities across 19 countries – from the Middle East, North America and Europe to Asia and Africa. GEMS offers six different curriculums, including the British Curriculum and the International Baccalaureate.
 
The signing ceremony with GEMS Education was held at the pleasant Tropicana Metropark Property Gallery where YB Dato’ Seri Idris Jusoh, Minister of Education II was present as a Guest of Honour to officiate the ceremony along with Tropicana Founder, YBhg Tan Sri Dato’ Danny Tan and GEMS Education Chief Executive Officer, Mr Tom Collin.
